Fibroblast growth factors are mitogens involved in angiogenesis, wound healing and embryonic development. They are heparin binding growth factors of ~ 17 kDa. Fibroblast growth factors enhance cell proliferation for a wide variety of cell types, making them ideal for use in serum free cell culture media. They also exert a potent angiogenic activity when invivo. SCIPAC offer two forms of fibroblast growth factors; basic fibrogblast growth factor (bFGF), and acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF). These two forms have a high degree of amino acid similarity, but differ in their mitogenic effect.
