Neuron Specific Enolase

This gamma enolase is a glycolytic enzyme present in brain and neuroendocrine tissue. It is a dimer with subunits of molecular weights of 45 kDa. NSE is used to monitor tumor bulk and provides useful information in terms of metastatic activity. It is also used to monitor brain injuries, in conjunction with another brain protein, S100 Beta.
