Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the cells of the prostate gland. Serum prostate specific antigen levels are low in men, however become elevated in prostate cancer patients. Because of this, the prostate specific antigen test is the most effective method for early detection of prostate cancer. However, total PSA levels can become increased by prostate infection, irritation and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and these can lead to false positive tests for prostate cancer. SCIPAC offer affinity purified monoclonal antibodies specific to total PSA and Free PSA.
